The Diverging Demographics of Youth and Seniors

PolicyLink created this map for the America’s Tomorrow series. It illustrates the share of seniors and children age 0-4 that are people of color. By displaying the two maps side by side, we can clearly see how the racial gap has become a generational gap. The maps make the case for investing in our diverse youth, because all children—regardless of their race—will suffer if we do not choose to make investments that create the conditions for the next generation to reach its full potential.
